Terms of sale

These terms apply to two things I sell on this website: yearly access to the Library, and single articles. They are written plainly on purpose. If anything here is unclear, write to me and I will explain it.

1. Who you are buying from

Richard Golian
Pod Turickou 3526/37, 97401 Banska Bystrica, Slovakia
ICO 52150399
DIC 1124945129
VAT ID SK1124945129 (registered for cross border services only, not a VAT payer on sales)
mail@richardgolian.com

2. What is for sale

  • The Library, €29.99 per year. Access to every premium article on this website for twelve months, including articles published during that time.
  • A single article, €2.99. One article, delivered as a PDF to your email address. Each article is sold on its own, as a separate item with its own price.

Prices are final. I am not registered for value added tax on sales, so no tax is added to them. You need no account and no password: access is tied to your email address and to a link I send you.

3. Access and delivery

Payment is handled by Stripe. I never see your card details. Access to the Library opens within seconds of a successful payment, and a single article arrives by email as a PDF, usually within a minute.

By paying, you ask me to give you that access straight away, before the fourteen day withdrawal period has passed, and you accept what section 5 says about articles you open during that period. Nothing is charged for articles you do not open.

4. Your right to withdraw within fourteen days

You may withdraw from a Library subscription within fourteen days of the payment, without giving any reason. The simplest way is the withdrawal function: open the withdrawal page and confirm. There is no questionnaire and no explanation to give. You may instead use the model withdrawal form in section 11, or tell me in any other clear statement. Your access ends at that moment, the subscription does not renew, and the money is returned to the card you paid with, within fourteen days at the latest.

A single article is different. It is digital content delivered in full at once, so once the PDF has been sent, the withdrawal right no longer applies to it. You agree to this when you buy it.

5. How the amount returned is calculated

Every article in the Library is also sold separately, at its own price, and it is delivered in full the moment you open it. That matters for withdrawal: articles you opened during the period you are withdrawing from are charged at that individual price, and everything else you paid comes back.

An example. You pay €29.99 for the year, open three articles at €2.99 each, and then withdraw. Three articles are charged, and the rest is returned. If you have opened enough articles that their individual prices reach what you paid, there is nothing left to return, and the withdrawal page shows you that number before you confirm anything.

6. Renewal and cancellation

The Library renews once a year at the same price, until you stop it. You can stop the renewal at any moment in the billing portal, and you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. The price you paid stays yours for as long as you keep the subscription: a new price applies to new subscribers only.

7. If something is wrong

If an article does not open, a PDF does not arrive, or a payment goes through twice, write to me at the address in section 1. I read my own email. Where the fault is mine, I fix it or return the money.

8. Complaints and disputes

Write to me first: most things end there. If we do not agree, you may turn to the Slovak Trade Inspection, which is the body for the out of court settlement of consumer disputes here: Slovenská obchodná inšpekcia, ústredný inšpektorát, Odbor pre medzinárodné vzťahy a alternatívne riešenie spotrebiteľských sporov, Bajkalská 21/A, p. p. 29, 827 99 Bratislava 27, soi.sk. Slovak law applies, and this does not take away the rights that the law of your own country of residence gives you as a consumer.

9. Your data

What I store, why, and for how long is described in the privacy policy. For a purchase I keep what an invoice needs and a record of which articles were opened, because that record decides the amount returned if you withdraw.

10. Changes

I may change these terms for future purchases. The version that applies to your purchase is the one published on the day you paid. This page always shows the date of the last change.

11. Model withdrawal form

You do not have to use this form. The withdrawal page does the same thing in one click. It is here because the law requires me to give it to you, and because you are free to use it instead.

(complete and return this form only if you wish to withdraw from the contract)

  • Ordered on / received on:
  • Name of consumer:
  • Address of consumer:

  • Date:

12. Personal use, and what is not allowed

Your access is for you. Read the articles, quote them, print one for yourself, send a paragraph to a friend. What is not allowed is systematic copying: downloading the Library in bulk, whether by hand or with software, republishing the texts, feeding them into a service that resells them, or passing your access to other people.

Copies served to members carry a marker that identifies the account they came from. If texts turn up elsewhere, that is how I know where they came from. Breaking this is not a matter of refunds; it is a copyright matter, and I will treat it as one.

To keep the Library usable for everyone, unusually heavy reading may be slowed down. Nothing is ever blocked and nothing is deleted.
