A Year in Blogging: 2024
By Richard Golian1 February 2025
Writing is more than just putting words on a page. It’s those moments when hours slip by unnoticed, when I completely lose track of time, and when inspiration strikes at 1 AM, making sleep impossible until I capture my thoughts. Blogging is my flow, my way of processing the world, and my means of sharing ideas that might otherwise remain unspoken.
In 2024, I wrote 15 new posts, reached thousands of unique readers, and accumulated tens of thousands of views. But numbers are just a byproduct. What truly matters is the passion behind the words—the need to express, analyze, and understand.
A Year in Writing
Each article I wrote in 2024 tells a story, marks a thought process, or captures a realization. Here’s a look at the themes that shaped my year:
February: A Lifelong Relationship with Books
I began the year by reflecting on my deep connection with books, how they shaped my thinking from childhood, and the ones that have left a lasting imprint on my worldview.
April: A Shift in Perspective on AI
I explored how my understanding of AI had changed over time, realizing that I had initially underestimated its role in certain areas.
June: Recognizing My Own Luck
A moment of gratitude led me to contemplate why I consider myself incredibly lucky and how that awareness influences my outlook on life.
July: Deep Dive into Investing and Self-Reflection
I shared my early experiences with investing, detailing the challenges I faced and the lessons I learned. I continued this exploration by emphasizing the long-term power of compound interest. I took a closer look at my own personality type—INTJ—ironically overanalyzing a personality known for overthinking. I put together a practical guide for those interested in investing in index funds. I examined my own failures, reflecting on the insights they provided. I tried to make sense of the unpredictable nature of the stock market and its ever-changing moods.
August: Defining My Values and Ideals
I delved into what I look for in potential colleagues—what qualities make someone a great collaborator and thinker. I considered what it means to be both a local patriot and a European, and how those identities are not mutually exclusive. I shared why I am part of Volt Europa and why I believe in its mission to create a more united and democratic Europe.
December: End-of-Year Reflections
I examined the power of perseverance—how resilience plays a crucial role in personal and professional growth. I questioned the optimism in the stock market, a sentiment I still struggle to fully comprehend. Finally, I realized that health comes first cannot just be a saying—it has to be a lived reality.
Looking Forward
Writing allows me to document my thoughts, refine my ideas, and connect with like-minded individuals. As I move into 2025, I want to continue this journey—not just writing to be read but writing to better understand myself and the world around me.
To everyone who has read, shared, and engaged with my blog last year—thank you. Your thoughts and feedback make this process even more meaningful. Here’s to another year of learning, questioning, and writing.
